Latvian Dictionary (“Vārdnīca”) is a fast, fully offline Latvian dictionary with translations to and from English, Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian — including complete word forms, flashcards and topics. The whole dictionary is bundled inside the app, so it works without an internet connection and collects no personal data.
No. The entire dictionary is bundled inside the app and works fully offline. The internet is only used if you tap a link — for example to rate the app or visit the developer’s site.
You can translate between Latvian and English, Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian, in both directions. The app interface is also available in all five languages. Change the target language from the dropdown on the Search screen, and the interface language in Settings.
Type a Latvian word or its translation. Search ignores diacritics, so typing “berns” will still find “bērns”. Use the swap arrow to change the translation direction.
Each entry shows its part of speech and complete inflection forms — noun declensions and verb conjugations — so you can see how a word changes in real sentences. Nouns also show gender and declension class.
Open the Study tab to review words with simple “Know / Remind” cards. Words you mark as known count toward your progress. You can reset all progress at any time in Settings.
Tap the star on any entry to add it to Favourites. Recently viewed words are kept automatically under the Saved tab.
Translations are generated with care and reviewed for the most common words, but rare words and machine-assisted entries may contain occasional inaccuracies. If you spot a mistake, please let us know — see below.
Yes. The app collects no personal data and has no accounts, ads or tracking. Favourites, history and settings stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
